Acrylic Transfer Release

Over the last few months I have been experimenting with a technique called 'Image transfer release'. It is a medium used for transfering printed images generated from diverse sources such as magazines, inkjet prints and photocopies onto nearly any surface, e.g. paper canvas, fabric etc.

The transfer process requires an application of a thin layer of acrylic gel medium over the the image to be transferred. Then place onto the surface you wish to have the image on, rolled flat with a roller for good contact and left to dry. The backing paper of the image needs to be dampened with water and then removed by lightly rubbering with a cloth or fingers. This leaves a transparent image imbedded within the acrylic medium.
